Rammstein XXI - a defining collection for any Rammstein fan
So I picked up the Rammstein XXI, a first time pressing of all Rammstein albums on vinyl, celebrating their 21st anniversary.
Here are some pics.
I was a bit worried about dropping 250 euros for 7 LP's but this is only official release of Rammstein on vinyl, except for Mutter that goes for easily upwards of 80 euros or even more in dollars.
Now is it worth the money? That is a definite yes. The remastering done by Svante Forsbäck whose name might ring a bell for some, mostly to nordic folk, is a phenomenal. I have now gotten around listening to all albums couple times trough. The sound is big like Rammstein needs to be but at same time it doesn't get muddy or too bass heavy. Every element and instrument can be easily made out and enjoyed. There have also been some actual changes. Some echo lyrics have been taken out and for example Benzin has the word less frequently repeated in the chorus. For me none of these felt out of place and enhanced the songs. I don't think I need to go on more about the albums, if you are fan, you know what they are about and this mix on vinyl certainly delivers all what you want from a Rammstein vinyl release regarding sound.

If someone has the Mutter and has this I would love to know how the two compare, but that's a long shot.
All the albums are double 180 gram LP's including the Raritäten which is a collection of fan edits and other special edition songs. These include instrumental versions, orchestral versions and a previously unreleased full band version of Los. This is very much a complete collection of all the bands works.
Each album is a gatefold with additional art on it inside. Each album except Raritäten comes with a booklet with lyrics and additional art. The sleeves are all printed with additional art for each album in style of each individual cover. The covers are also customized on each album with shining lettering or embroidery lettering. The overall feeling is that everything has been considered and the albums don't feel like a mass release put together for quick buck but instead each one is a thought out release on vinyl that just now have been put together. The box it comes in is a sturdy, sleek, black with a canvas feeling to it. It also has some minimal art on it. The box has to be sturdy since the whole thing weighs in around 3,5 kilos, that's 7,7 pounds.
It's a massive package that pretty much lives up to anyone's need for a Rammstein release on vinyl. Hopefully the prices won't go too high since there are supposedly 10 000 copies and I'm already seeing it sold for more than 350 euros some places. The Rammstein site still has stock though and is selling it for the original 250. Hopefully they will release more copies if there is demand so people don't need to resort buying price gouged copies.
