This utility will install the originally shipped version of the Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controllerfor the Sony VAIO® computers listed below.
Whenever I install a driver called ASMedia USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller (Microsoft) version 1.16.28.1, my computer crashes upon restart with stop error code. Now with the new Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller driver, you can make full use of the USB 3.0, thus making it disappear that the xHCI can be used well with USB 2.0 but failed to perform with USB 3.0.
Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller will remove the yellow exclamation mark next to “Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller” in the Device Manager window if the driver is uninstalled.

Download And Installation Instructions
Please follow the steps below to download and install the INDUSB-00266909-0042.exe program.
- Download the INDUSB-00266909-0042.exe file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
- Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the INDUSB-00266909-0042.exe file to begin the installation.
- At User Account Control click Yes
- If the Select Language window appears, select the language you wish to use and click the OK.
- At Select Country please select the country you want for this installation and click Next
- At the Welcome to Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Setup Program, click Next.
- Read the Software License Agreement and click I Agree.
- At the Finished screen, click Finish.
- At This system must be restarted to complete the installation, click OK to restart the computer.
The installation of the Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller is completed.
The Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver Installer 'Setup.exe' will install the following drivers and application on the system:

Intel USB 3.0 Driver for Windows XP and Vista:

The Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver is not supported in Windows XP or Windows Vista. For these operating systems, make sure your BIOS settings have the xHCI Mode set to Auto or Smart Auto. This step reconfigures the USB 3.0 ports to function as USB 2.0 ports using the native Windows EHCI driver.
Intel USB 3.0 Driver for Windows 8:
Windows 8 has a native in-box USB 3.0 driver. Intel is not releasing a specific Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver for Windows 8.
If you are upgrading Windows 7 to Windows 8, uninstall the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver before installing the upgrade.
